
Irish Storytelling Evening and Workshop
Lara will be hosting the renowned Irish Storyteller Clare Murphy for an evening of storytelling on Friday, followed by a day-long workshop in which she and Laurel Howe will lead the group in interpretation of myths and fairy tales that Clare presents to us.

This Autumn, just on the brink of winter, it is with great delight that we welcome back to the Denver area the accomplished and captivating Irish Storyteller, Clare Murphy. On Friday, Clare will provide us with an evening of fairy tales and myths of Ireland. Then on Saturday, for those who would like to look deeper into this archetypal material, we are offering a workshop in which Clare tells the myths, and analysts Lara Newton and Laurel Howe lead the interpretation process.
Clare Muireann Murphy is a storyteller, performer, writer and social entrepreneur. In her three years as a professional storyteller she has graced many stages including: the Globe Theatre, London; The Times Cheltenham Literature Festival and The Kilkenny Arts Festival. Clare received a Social Entrepreneur Award in 2007 for her work with storytelling in the community. She is a member of Poetry Ireland Writer’s in Schools Scheme, of Storytellers of Ireland, and of FEST, the Federation of European Storytelling. Clare toured the UK with the Storytelling Café in 2008, and then did a solo tour in March 2009.
Clare is a strong new emerging voice in storytelling, and has been recognized by the International Storytelling community through the honor of an invitation onto the UK’s renowned Crick Crack Club website as a recommended storyteller. The Crick Crack Club is one of the few International promoters of storytellers.
Laurel Howe, M.A. is a diplomate analyst, having recently graduated from the Centre for Depth Psychology in Zürich, Switzerland. She is in private practice in Denver, teaches for the Colorado Sandplay Therapist Association and is a board member of the C. G. Jung Society of Colorado.
Lara Newton, M.A., L.P.C. is a Senior Jungian Analyst in private practice in Denver, president of the Jung Society of Colorado and Co-coordinator of training for the Jung Institute of Colorado. She has studied Irish mythology and literature for over 35 years.
